What happens if I move?
You should contact Cpudirect Networks and confirm if the service is available at the new address. If so, some customers may be able to re-install the antenna and equipment at the new location. If you require a technician to do this for you, then you will be charged our regular hourly rate.
What happens if I do not want the service anymore?
In accordance with the Terms and Conditions, you must give a 30-day notice and return all the equipment on loan to you. This includes but is not limited to: the radio and power cord, cables, and antenna.
What is the process to have High-Speed Wireless Internet activated at my home or office?
You must agree to our Terms and Conditions prior to scheduling an appointment. The final determination of service availability will be at the time of install. If we are unable to provide service within our matrix there will be no charges, unless you have been notified ahead of time that the prequalification is questionable. In instances where we notify you ahead of time that the prequalification is questionable and the installer is unable to complete the installation for any reason, a nominal Service Call Fee will be assessed to cover the cost of the technician’s time. Once the technician has determined that we are able to provide service within our matrix you will be provided, in writing, all the detailed information of how the service will be implemented. Before doing any actual work, the technician will provide a written copy of the consult and you must accept any indicated conditions. You are then bound to the Terms and Conditions and any non-recurring charges are non-refundable, so long as the Cpudirect Networks service functions within the following matrix: Radio at the time of install has maintained a -80 or lower db signal and Internet throughput is at least 25KBps (200kbps) as measured from the transmitter to your radio. This basically means that if the technician installs the service and it works to our quality measurement, you have to pay the provisioning fee and at least one month of service before canceling. The equipment and antenna are always ours and must be returned if service is discontinued.
How do I know if I pre-qualify for High-Speed Wireless Internet?
You will need to call or email us with your address to request a free, no obligation prequalification. We will check your address using our topographical software to make a preliminary determination of service availability.
What type of contract agreement would I have to sign?
You will be required to agree to our Month-to-Month High-Speed Wireless Internet Package Terms and Conditions prior to scheduling an installation appointment. We maintain ownership of the radio and antenna, but the contract is only month-to-month. Typically this document is emailed to you and can be acknowledged via reply email. You may also stop by our office or have a copy faxed or mailed to you.
How long will it take to activate High-Speed Wireless Internet at my home or office?
It depends on our technician availability and our equipment inventory.
How many computers can I connect to the Cpudirect Networks service?
The radio comes with one Ethernet jack that can connect to either one computer or a network device. Cpudirect Networks service includes one static IP address for each customer. Cpudirect High-Speed Wireless Internet's service, however, connecting up multiple tenants or homes is not permissible unless a written agreement is negotiated with Cpudirect Networks.
What does the "priority" in the business priority service level mean?
This means that the intelligent network infrastructure will give this service level group a priority over other service level groups on the same network. In cases where the backbone is under heavy load, or even in cases where the network is busy answering requests from other customers, anyone in this service group will be put ahead of others.
Is Cpudirect Networks symmetrical (the same speed uploading and downloading)?
Yes, Cpudirect Networks is symmetrical, unlike standard DSL and cable.
Can my service be affected by weather or objects in the line of sight of the antenna?
Because Cpudirect Networks wireless technology uses such low frequencies, weather and objects are not as large of a factor as many other wireless technologies. However, for installations that are at the edge of the service area you may be required to have line of sight since such factors can make a noticeable difference. Cpudirect will not install the service if it does not meet the required quality metrics during the pre-installation phase.
How Will the Antenna be installed?
Every installation will be different. Before work is done, the installer will provide you a written installation consult. In general, an indoor antenna can be placed in a window on the side of the home or office that faces a transmitter. An outdoor antenna is typically installed on the roof line of the building on a bracket or small mast. A cable is then run from the antenna and connected through a wall to the inside of your home much like a satellite installation. The location where the radio will be inside your home or office must be within 75 feet of the location the antenna is installed.
Will this allow me to move around my house or neighborhood?
No, Cpudirect Networks is a fixed wireless Internet service. It has a radio that connects to a fixed antenna either inside or mounted on the outside of your home or office, and then the radio connects to your computer, router, or other network device. However, you can use mobile wireless networking equipment in conjunction with Cpudirect Networks to have that type service. Such equipment can be purchased from any computer equipment retailer and self-installed or installed by an independent contractor. Which high speed Internet access should I choose? ADSL or Cpudirect Networks?
The upfront costs for ADSL are slightly less than those for High-Speed Wireless Internet, however, the monthly costs for ADSL are significantly higher for comparable speeds. In addition, some customers may wish to not have a phone line, and only use a cell phone at home. Unlike ADSL, which requires you to have a phone line, Cpudirect Networks is wireless and does not require one.
